  • Description

When it comes to growing a robust mustache, masticating red meat, building a chair, or wooing a woman, who better to educate you than the always charming, always manly Nick Offerman, best known as Parks and Recreation’s Ron Swanson? Combining his trademark comic voice and very real expertise in carpentry, Paddle Your Own Canoe features tales from Offerman’s childhood (born, literally, in the middle of an Illinois cornfield) to his theater days in Chicago to the, frankly, magnificent seduction of his wife, Megan Mullally. Offerman also shares his hard-bitten battle strategies in the arenas of manliness, love, styles, and religion, and invaluable advice on getting the utmost pleasure out of woodworking, assorted meats, outdoor recreations, and other palatable entrees.

Nick Offerman has just plain figured it out, and we are indeed fortunate that he can articulate his wisdom in such an entertaining way. Thanks for setting us straight, Sensei-Offerman!

    • Funny & incitefull.

A look into the mind of the actor, not the character he plays, though there are some similarities. A good read, filled with stories & opinions, meant to be enjoyed, not taken completely seriously.
    • Review of Paddle

A very interesting book looking into the life of Nick Offerman. Having grown up in a small town in Illinois, went to U of I in Champaign-Urbana, worked in Chicago and a Carpenter, I could relate to his story. Although R rated at times Nick lets us in to the real world behind the scenes of acting in plays, TV and movies. Of course its pretty funny too!
    • Terrible

One of the worst books I have read. Major waste of time.
    • It is what it is

I really enjoyed the book and found it insightful and funny. If you have no idea who Nick Offerman is or what's he's about you may want to look into it before you read the book or write a poor review cause you did not agree with the authors philosophy on life in a book which he clearly states he is going to rant about life
    • Wish I would have read the sample.

It's about a guy who had all the ingredients to become a man, but LA just made another hippy with a mustache. Wish I could get my money back.
