Description

National Bestseller

On November 15, 1959, in the small town of Holcomb, Kansas, four members of the Clutter family were savagely murdered by blasts from a shotgun held a few inches from their faces. There was no apparent motive for the crime, and there were almost no clues.

As Truman Capote reconstructs the murder and the investigation that led to the capture, trial, and execution of the killers, he generates both mesmerizing suspense and astonishing empathy. In Cold Blood is a work that transcends its moment, yielding poignant insights into the nature of American violence.

It's interesting to hear her talk about them as her friends and then read an outsiders views on the tragedy. Grandma tells me about them as she knew them and this gives me another view of how someone who didn't know them sees it. Great book.

A very good read. It has two typos, that the publisher has refused to fix as of this moment.

Awesome read in true Capote prose. I can't understand the criticisms about the wordiness. It's how Capote writes & necessary to portray the story with detail & sensitivity to the content. I couldn't put it down. A definite must read!
