Through case studies and lively discussion, Perel demonstrates how more exciting, playful, and even poetic sex is possible in long-term relationships. Wise, witty, and as revelatory as it is straightforward, Mating in Captivity is a sensational book that will transform the way you live and love.

  • Pease, for your marriage's sake read a different book.

Read this book with high hopes. Took the information seriously. And did the exercises and carried the information seriously into the intimate relationship with my wife with an open heart only to see it draw us further apart and bring a new awkwardness between us. I looked back over the book too see how many references she quotes in the back of her book that I very scepticly feel she actually used and only used her questionable second hand information she got from hooking in people who on to very expensive "therapy". If you care about your marriage I recommend you pass this book over as I really wish I never did.

I just went to my first tantra workshop last night. This book has allowed me to read in context the questions and answers I've been seeking. I felt like I had forgotten how great a lover I am. Perel made me think. And last night I remembered that I have all the tools to be a greater lover still. Her insight brought out ideas I hadn't ever thought of. Must read. Must.

Started reading this book on my iPhone and could not put it down!!! Recently divorced, I could have used this amazing collection of carefully assembled cases and practical exercises for couples. I particularly like the approach to all comers not just heterosexual. My only wish is that I had read it before I got married 18 years ago.
