Description

In September 2007, a packed courtroom in St. George, Utah, sat hushed as Elissa Wall, the star witness against polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs, gave captivating testimony of how Jeffs forced her to marry her first cousin at age fourteen. This harrowing and vivid account proved to be the most compelling evidence against Jeffs, showing the harsh realities of this closed community and the lengths that Jeffs went to in order to control the women in it. Now, in this courageous memoir, Elissa Wall tells her incredible and inspirational story of her time in the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints (FLDS), detailing how she emerged from its confines to help bring one of America's most notorious criminals to justice.

I grew up in the same church and have left myself. It is an amazing story and a good view from a female perspective growing up in a cult like that.

Wow! What a great book! It was very sad knowing that this is someone's REAL LIFE story, but it's very intriguing to have a glimpse into the FLDS world. I love learning about different culture and religions and this book did a great job at showing you what else is out there. Ellisa Wall is a very strong woman and I truly admire her for sharing her painful story with the world.n

I read this book when it first came out in 2009 after seeing her appear on the Ophra's show. Elissa was with her husband and one of her sister's. Their story is very moving and I still can't stop raving about it to people. This book is a must read!!!!!!!! I would for sure pick it up again to read for a second time...
