Introducing book 1 in the new Checkmate Duet Series from a secret duo of bestselling authors! This friends to lovers romance will have you swooning and laughing from the first to the last page! Are you ready to play the game?

Drew Fisher is the type of guy every girl wants.

Noble police officer by day, charming prince by night.

He has no idea the effect he has on women, especially me—his little sister’s best friend.

I’m the blonde Southern belle who lives up to the cliché, except I have my own quirks. I’m smart as a whip, can change my own oil, and recite The Pledge of Allegiance backward, but he doesn’t see that girl.

It’d be easier to forget him if he wasn’t my roommate and if the first thing I saw in the morning wasn't his shirtless body covered in tattoos. I’ve crushed on him since the day we met, but he’s made it perfectly clear where we stand. Just friends.

I know I need to move on and accept that his feelings will never be mutual, but every day he smiles at me, I’m left dreaming of what if.

He has girl issues, and I’ve got a crush I can’t deny.

We’re friends, but I want more.

One drunken hookup leaves us with much more than a platonic friendship. Pretending it never happened proves to be more difficult than anticipated.

A crazy ex-girlfriend, a dangerous war of stolen glances, and passionate kisses leads to the most reckless battle yet. I won’t be a pawn in his game, but I’ll play by his rules if it will show him I’m the one worth breaking them for.

Checkmate, Prince Charming.

*Recommend for ages 18+ due to sexual content and adult language.*

**This is book 1 of 2 in the Checkmate Duet Series--a friends to lovers romance. Highly recommended to read the Checkmate Duet, This is War and This is Love first, but not necessary. This can read as a standalone duet.**

Ohhhhhh my god. Talk about an ending that will leave you with your mouth hanging open, your blood pressure shooting up through the roof and wanting to pull your hair out! Kennedy Fox has burned the house down yet again! I'm so far gone. This author duo has already zoomed up to my top favorite authors list when they brought us Traviola's story. But now with Drewtney? I. Am. Done. Can they just write and make books forever? Seriously, it was a hook, line and sinker. I'm addicted. I can absolutely read these tales over and over and I still won't get enough of them. This book is yet another masterpiece from Kennedy Fox and a definite must read. It's a little less angsty than what we got from Travis and Viola's story, but the humor was as impeccable and tummy ache-inducing as ever. And the lines were so perfectly relatable that you could easily find yourself in Courtney's shoes on any of the scenes. Now I'm just going stir crazy waiting to find out what happens next in This is Effortless!

This book is about two roommates, Drew and Courtney. Drew is a police officer and all around good guy. Courtney is the best friend you wish you had. When Courtney is stressed, she bakes and bakes. Courtney has been crushing on Drew for a while, but he only sees her as his sister's best friend and one of the guys. Plus, he has an on and off again girlfriend that everyone hates. One night when Drew is single again, Drew and Courtney go to a wedding and wake up next to each other the next morning with nothing on. This is how the story of Drewtney begins. This was the first book I've read by Kennedy Fox, but it won't be my last. I loved reading this book from the beginning to the end. It was one of those books that just draw you in until the last drop. I can't wait for the next part of Drew and Courtney's story. I plan to go back and read about Travis and Viola. Don't be like me and read it out of order. You totally can because they are interconnected standalones, but then you will end up like me wanted to go back to the beginning.
  • Can the second installment hurry up?!

Team Drewtney for the WIN! Kennedy Fox has done it again! Checkmate: This is Reckless is the perfect blend of friends to lovers romance, humor, emotion, and of course, page melting sexy times! This is the first book in Drew and Courtney's duet, so consider that your warning if you're not a fan of cliffhangers! We were introduced to these two in Travis & Viola's books, Checkmate: This is War and This is Love, but this duet can be read as a stand alone. I loved watching Drew and Courtney blur the lines of their friendship. Courtney's feelings towards Drew are no secret and she definitely wins the most patient while pining for your best friend award. I will admit that there were times I was frustrated by Drew, but it was all worth it to see Drew finally open his eyes to his toxic relationship with Mia and see who was really there all along. Yes, there's some angst and drama, but there's also hilarious witty banter and smokin' hot chemistry. All our favorite (and not so favorite) characters are back and a few new ones are introduced too. I definitely enjoyed getting to revisit with Travis and Viola and I'm really intrigued by Logan's story. I wouldn't mind one bit if he got his own story or if there was a spin off series featuring Courtney's brothers. Just saying ;) I cannot wait for book 2, Checkmate: This is Effortless, because that ending was a gut punch! I'm still reeling a bit from those last few paragraphs (seriously, oh hell no!!!), but I trust Kennedy Fox and so I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the ride! ;) *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book*
