The anticipated conclusion of The Checkmate Duet from a secret duo of bestselling authors! Checkmate: This is Love is an enemies to lovers romance that will have you crying with laughter one moment and screaming in frustration the next... but you'll be begging to play the game with The King.
Game on.

Viola Fisher is the epitome of perfection.

She despises my one-night stands and mocks my less-than-classy habits.

She’s smart, beautiful, and too good to be true.

And I want her.

If she were anyone else, I’d have made my move years ago, but considering she’s my best friend’s little sister, she’s always been off-limits. Not to mention how much she loathes my very existence.

Hating me is her religion, but needing her is mine. Her sexy curves and filthy smart mouth make me want her even more, and I’m more determined than ever to change her mind.

I’ll prove I’m done playing games.

But until then, we’ll continue to play by her rules.

Viola Fisher may have won the battle, but the war isn’t over yet.

Checkmate, princess.

*Recommend for ages 18+ due to sexual content and adult language.*

**This is Love is book in the Checkmate Duet. You must read This is War first.**

Ok. So. I’ve had these on my bookshelf forever it seems. Not sure why I delayed in reading them. They are great. Synopsis: Viola fell in love with her brother, Drew’s best friend Travis at 11 years old. They become close, best friends close. Something happens that changes that when she’s 12. Fast forward 10 years. Travis and drew have graduated college. They share a house together. Viola cannot stand Travis and let’s him know it every chance she gets. Viola is a senior In college. For spring break she’s staying at their house. Drew goes to stay with his beeyotch of a girlfriend Mia. Leaving Trav and V alone. I should mention. Travis is a player. Sleeps with lots and lots of people. What i loved: The way the author goes back and forth current to past events. It worked well. I loved how much they loved each other but wouldn’t admit it or allow themselves to believe it could be real. Sex was hot. What I didn’t love but didn’t ruin the book: 2 things. I really couldn’t stand the way they talked to each other during the enemies portion. More so Viola. It was harsh and way over the top for me. And the way then refused to allow any vulnerabilities to show until late in the book. But. Those two things didn’t ruin book for me, they were probably pretty realistic. But I was glad when that part of book went away. Now. Sex scenes. HAWT. Great. Loved them. Travis was a hot alpha in the sack. Viola loves it! I completely recommend this book and have already finished book 2... moving on to Drew’s story with no delay! Slight spoiler warning... * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * There is other women drama. And Travis does have sexual interactions with other women during some of the book. I don’t consider it cheating. In fact he struggles with wanting viola so much he walks away a few times. Viola doesn’t consider it cheating either. And once they work out when she started hating him he is faithful and dedicated.

Great book. Would recommend. Make sure to delete and redownload your copy if it ends abruptly. You won't be disappointed. That ending though. ❤
  • Disappointed

    By Hjulrich
I was pretty disappointed with this book. I loved the first one and had this preordered so I could start reading right away, and it just fell flat for me. It looked like it was half-finished and not edited at all (like missing words and details, not just grammatical errors). There wasn't much of a plot or really any sort of driving conflict, and none of my questions were answered regarding the cliffhanger from the first book. There wasn't really any resolution at all, and the book ended so abruptly, I thought I was missing something. The only reason this is getting two stars from me is because I really like Viola and Travis together.
  • A better review

    By JLoc0303
So I originally gave a review for this book because iBooks only gave me about 200 of the pages of the book. And I thought that couldn't be it!? Sure enough it wasn't. After now really finishing it all I can say is ahhhhhh, I loved it! I can't wait for what's next!😍😍😍
  • Deliciously fun and steamy read!

After that doozy of an ending in This is War, I could not wait to get my hands on This is Love. The books are a duet, so This is Love should not be read as a stand alone. The story picks up right where the first left off and it definitely did not disappoint! The chemistry between Travis and Viola is just as scorching (if not more!) than it was in book 1 and the hilarious banter between all of the characters was kicked up another notch. This book had all the feels - joy, anger, sadness, hope, and heartbreak. We all knew that the way book 1 left off that there would be hell to pay in book 2, and pay we did, with our hearts! But don't despair Team Traviola, I said there was hope and joy too :) I'll admit that there were times I wanted to scream at the characters for letting their fears and misunderstandings get the better of them, but I could also see where they each were coming from and why things needed to develop the way that they did. Without being spoilery, I was happy to see some characters get their due, but there's certainly someone I'd love to say good riddance to right now if I could! It may have taken me a bit to warm up to Travis in the beginning, but this time around, I could not get enough of him! He seriously had some down right adorable moments, and this book really showed his more emotional and vulnerable side. Just as quickly though, he had me blushing from the blazing chemistry between him and Viola. Doting nurse - check. Bridget Jones - check. Bay window - check. Lake Tahoe - check. ;) One of my favorite parts about this duet are the Harry Potter and pop culture references. There is so much witty and hysterical banter between our characters that had me laughing out loud as I was reading. Some of my very favorites scenes are the ones where Viola unapologetically owns her bookish ways and embraces her inner nerd. True, I may not have found these scenes quite as hilarious if I hadn't read Harry Potter myself, but it definitely brought humor into this love story. I loved seeing both Travis and Viola grow individually and seeing their stories come full circle. Although this book is the conclusion to their chapter, I was happy to see that we aren't leaving the Checkmate world just yet. Older brother Drew and BFF extraordinaire Courtney also got a bit of page time in this book and I'm excited that we get to read their story next. If you're looking for a deliciously fun and steamy read, don't miss the Checkmate Duet! *I voluntarily read a free advance reader copy of this book*
